Food & Drink
Kyle and Jan are dedicated to offering the best fresh food with local ingredients at reasonable prices.
Head Chef Ian Douthwaite trained at the famous Sharrow Bay Hotel on Ullswater and his Oak Steak and Ale Pie,
made with hand-diced beef from Ewbanks in Appleby, is already a local favourite. Constantly-changing specials
include an excellent fish menu and a choice of luscious homemade deserts.
At The Royal Oak we believe that children deserve real food too, so we have a developed our ‘menu for smaller apetites’, offering freshly-prepared options such as Junior Steak. On Tuesdays we also have a discounted menu for senior citizens and from Monday to Thursday an Early Bird menu, served between 5.30 and 7.00pm.
Our food is complemented by a hand-picked international wine list including up to five whites and five reds available
by the glass. The pub is Cask Marqued, with a minimum of three real ales always available, including Black Sheep
Bitter and Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, as well as a selection of super-cooled lagers and a wide range of bottled
beers and ciders.
Food is served from 12-9.00pm on Sundays and 12-2.30pm and 5.30-9.00pm on weekdays. We can accommodate parties of 10, 22 or 40 in individual dining spaces and also design menus especially for your event be it a wedding breakfast or a business meeting.
